Franklin Regional Retirement Board votes to hire Copeland Capital Management as a small cap manager.

On Wednesday, April 1, 2020 the Board interviewed three highly ranked investment managers vying to manage an allocation to small cap domestic equity and after moderate discussion the Board chose Copeland. By the numbers, and with good presentations all three were close competitors, and Copeland got the nod based on incrementally better numbers than two other fine managers with good numbers and approaches. All three of them provided compelling pitches as to how well they pair with the Board’s other small cap manager – Aberdeen – which was a goal communicated to the three.

The allocation will be funded sometime this summer.

The two competitors were Palisade Capital Management (Fort Lee, NJ), and Teton Advisors (Rye, NY).

Closed to the public but still operating as much as we can.

Due to covid-19 our office is closed to visitors, and the governor has issued orders to close nonessential offices  – but we are planning to stay as operational as possible once laptops arrive and we can work from home securely. For now we are limiting our numbers to only what essentially needs to get done to keep going. Basically that means that at least one of us will be in the office each day to ensure we keep monthly benefits flowing to our retirees, pay our bills, and process refunds to those that need them.

We are here – so stay in touch,  Dale

Post Retirement Earnings in the coming year 2020

After you retire you can work as many hours and earn as much as you want in private industry, the same for any government agency outside of Massachusetts.

However, if you are receiving a retirement benefit from a government retirement system in Massachusetts you are limited in the amount you can earn from post retirement employment with any government agency in Massachusetts and it is your responsibility to inform your employer to what extent you are limited.

Reporting to FRRS is not required until and unless there are over-earnings that are to be recovered via the return of retirement benefits.

Please use the Post Retirement Earnings Worksheet (available below) to report to the government employer what you expect in 2020.
